On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the journalistic research TV show Time Machine presented on Saturday, March 15, at John Cassavetes Theater, in collaboration with the Film Office of the Region of Central Macedonia, well-known and lesser-known landmarks of the region that have "starred" in its stories. The event was attended by Vicky Hatzivassiliou, Vice Governor of Tourism of the Region of Central Macedonia, Akis Sakellariou, President of the Board of Directors of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, and Athina Kartalou, General Director of the General Film Directorate of EKKOMED-Creative Greece.

The screening of the film Only on Earth took place on Saturday, March 15, at the Pavlos Zannas Theater, in collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, and in the presence of the film’s director, Robin Petré, as part of the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival. The film takes us to southern Galicia, one of the most vulnerable regions in Europe to the threat of wildfires, capturing both the harsh beauty and fragile balance of the natural world.

Within the framework of the 27th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, a special open hearing of the first episode of the podcast BiPolar Opposites took place on Saturday, March 15th at the Green Room within Olympion theater. The podcast was researched, written, and narrated by Valia Dimitrakopoulou, with sound mixing, sound design, and original music by Daphne Tsiouni. It was created following an open call issued by the non-profit journalistic organization iMEdD and the Thessaloniki Film Festival. The audio documentary BiPolar Opposites dives into the universe of bipolar disorder, aiming to demystify and destigmatize it through personal testimonies and interviews with experts.

On Thursday morning, March 13th at the Pavlos Zannas theater, the audience of the 27th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival had the opportunity to attend a fascinating masterclass, delivered by the remarkable filmmaker and photographer Lauren Greenfield, this year’s distinguished guest. The discussion was held on the occasion of the creator’s new documentary series Social Studies (2024), an innovative social experiment exploring the impact of social media on the first generation of digital natives, today’s adolescents. Lauren Greenfield spoke about her new project, its relation to her previous works, as well as her path and her progress as an artist.
